One day I took the VHS copy of the show that I had bought, over to see Chris. Chris had a cool space in an industrial park. It was designed to hold large freight trucks and he had a one of those mobile offices, made from a trailer that are used at construction sites, inside. Inside that it was filled with computers and reference material and a video projector which he used to project videos and movies out the door of the trailer and onto a side wall.
I wouldn’t tell him what I wanted to show him, I wanted it to be a surprise. I don’t remember if I had it cued up to where the show began or if I had the opening of the show starting first. All I remember for certain is the explosive response that I got from him as soon as they started talking about reversing the polarity of the magnetic fields.
“WHAT THE HELL?! Are there microphones in this place? Has someone been SPYING ON ME!!! WHAT IS THIS?!”
Chris was bi-polar and could get a little paranoid sometimes, but not often. I had forgotten about that but figured that it was obvious that we were watching an old TV show or movie. I was wrong.
“Chris! Chris! Look at it! LOOK AT IT! It’s OLD, in BLACK AND WHITE! It’s from 1963, Chris! We were both CHILDREN! We were little kids when they made this, Chris! We were just little kids!”
He stopped his yelling, and looking around at the place for hidden cameras, and just stared at the black & white projection on the wall, stunned. “But how did they know?” he murmured, almost to himself. “How could they know?”
“I know! They had your theory about reversing the polarity of the magnetic fields and mine about a 4th spatial dimension as a step through to parallel universes. But they had it when we were little kids. We discovered it on our own…”
Chris turned and walked slowly up the trailer steps and took a seat inside to watch from there. I joined, but inside myself I felt like we had been part of some time experiment since birth. The synchronicity of my having found this old video of an episode that I know that I saw as a child but forgot about, and having it in my hands now that it’s subject, and its presentation, were part of not only my life but Chris’, was mind reeling - especially because of Chris’ reaction. I had been used to such things, but to see the affect it had on him, was unexpected and profound.
To really grasp what I’m talking about, you should watch an experimental video art piece I did years later, called Parallel Universes. It was done in the wake of seeing many elements of my life from the Bosoks Project appearing in episodes of the Fox TV show, FRINGE. It got so bad that I started crying foul publicly but I couldn’t charge J.J. Abrams with theft because much of what he had been using was things not known or known to a very small few. There’s was no way to show he had access to it unless, like Chris had, I entertained the possibility of covert surveillance, which I didn’t. One example is in the video below. In it, there are camera devices used in a way that I knew something about but that I had thought up on my own. In the clip, they are used in conjunction with a special light that opens up a way to rotate the character David Jones from his location in Germany to Little Hill Field in the U.S.

In the video clip below is more information concerning the devices in that episode of FRINGE. Starting at 2:15 on the counter, the good part begins with a retake on the camera devices (but you see only one this time) but at 2:24, we get the explanation of what it is a does. Then again at 3:15 on the counter, we get action at Little Hill Field with activation of the devices.
